Service Description
Each session will either focus on building new skills or using those skills to create a finished piece inspired by a particular subject. The course is designed to be relaxed, supportive, and suitable for all abilities. If you miss a skills session, don’t worry, Christina will help you catch up. Sessions include: Understanding Materials & Using Acrylic Paints Learn about brushes, surfaces, colour mixing, and how to confidently work with acrylic paints through simple practical exercises. Bold Fruit Shapes & Colourful Pattern Painting Create expressive acrylic paintings inspired by fruit, shape, and pattern while exploring colour and composition. - Perspective: Mountains, Trees & Distance - Discover simple perspective techniques and learn how to paint depth, atmosphere, angles, and distance within landscapes. - Painting Light Through Trees - Create an atmospheric painting inspired by looking up through trees, exploring light, movement, and layered colour. - Drawing Techniques & Approaches - Build confidence in drawing through mark-making, observation, shading, and expressive techniques. - Guided Drawing Session - Put drawing skills into practice in a relaxed guided session focused on observation and creativity. - Free Choice Final Piece - Develop your own artwork inspired by the techniques and subjects explored throughout the course, with guidance and support throughout. Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits are on offer to make for a really enjoyable morning. Each week we do something that might get you messy so please dress appropriately! The chapel offers all our classes at subsidised rates. Our small group sessions are supportive and caring, hosted in a lovely environment. We always use good materials and tea/squash/snacks are available. We rely completely on grants and donations - we have two subsidised tiers, plus a chance for you to donate £12 towards the true cost of the course. If you can afford to pay the higher rate it will enable us to support future classes and widen our work in the community. So far this year each class has been costing us an average of £19.56 per person to run - these costs are always rising. The Quarry Chapel never wants anyone who would like to take part not to do so due to prohibitive costs. Please email Abi Nicol - Development Worker (thequarrychapel@gmail.com) to discuss our bursaries.
