Treat yourself to a lovely class where textile artist Deb Brooks will introduce you to unusual techniques and ways of working using fabrics, recycled materials, stitch and print. Over the 4 weeks you will develop a mini sustainability project embracing recycling, reusing, rethinking/up cycling textiles. You will be supported to dream up innovative ways to recreate products using waste materials and exploring construction and decorative textile techniques. Whether you are confident at sewing or completely new, Deb will help you to surprise yourself and what can be accomplished - for example you might take an old shirt and turn it into a basis for a cushion cover using the button placket for fastening - you will then have the chance to appliqué, couching or print on top to make something truly personal! But you don't have too... Deb can help you make a selection of samples that builds your knowledge and playfulness. You might even fancy making a corset from bottle tops and fruit nets crochet together! It's going to be fun!!! We will have some starter materials for you to use or bring a project your working on. There's refreshments on hand - we know a cuppa and biscuit always helps!
