Service Description
We are excited to be offering our second 10 week cookery and ceramic course starting Wednesday 14th January, 9.30-2pm in Dursley. No class 11th February = half term. Meet Abi and have an individual tour of facilities to reduce anxiety Wed 7th January - times to be arranged. We will work with families - both the young person and their parent/carer to learn how to prepare tasty dishes and to create a set of tableware using clay. The team at Quarry Chapel have been working with young people and their parents/carers for six years. We deliver a range of creative classes from animation and growing dye plants to art clubs. We see the difference that care, subtle support and interesting activities can have on the people who attend. We see less anxiety as confidence grows and how being connected to others is fun, as is learning new skills. We know how difficult it is to support young people when they are struggling and the extra stresses this places on families both emotionally and financially.. This 10 week course is for both of you to take part in. It teaches cookery and ceramics. Each week you will learn to cook delicious dishes to eat together at lunchtime and will be taught how to make your own ceramic tableware - plate, side plate, bowl, cup etc. By the end of the course you will have made a diner set for yourself or each other that celebrates your interests. You will use your own textures to make truly unique personal pieces that will be dishwasher proof! On the 10th session we will eat off your handmade ceramic tableware, laying it out to admire and use for our final lunch together. Our aim is to teach you both how to cook new dishes and learn how to use clay, including using moulds, glazes and stamping/pattern techniques. A donation towards costs is asked £40/80 per family for 10 weeks tuition, food and materials. Please email if this is prohibitive to you joining. Please contact Abi to discuss the course and to find out if it is right for your family. We look forward to hearing from you. thequarrychapel@gmail.com/ 07974175990 Positive Feedback: The fact that it is aimed at children with these issues as I rarely find anything to suit. The way is it organised with the split between the two groups so not too overwhelming. Having the 2 seperate areas with the rooms at the side if your child feels uncomfortable or needs time to adjust. Splitting the cooking over a few tables and the ceramics with a family per table so we are more spread out.
